Graphic Sleeves
If there’s one item I loved, it was my Delia’s visual long shirt and baggy trousers (aka, my weekend even all year round ). The more upscale type featured a somewhat fancier actress. e., whatever border is happening over on Mandy’s back.
Believe it or not, Delia’s is still around (via Dolls Kill ) and you’d better believe graphic tees are an important part of the collection. Astonishingly, Ed Hardy sweaters are also making a comeback, albeit in far sweeter form.
Shoulder Luggage
SJP, a Y2K fashion It girl, demonstrates the peculiar combination of “long plain dress plus expensive shoes and casual bag,” which was a significant component of your life in the 2000s. Making the shoe feeling pulled together rather than haphazardly by matching the bag quickly enough to the shoe.
From Coach to Marc Jacobs, the” classic” shoulder bag is popping up everywhere. This time, though, it’s a more entertaining, winking nod to the history, instead of a clear copy of what we used to see.
Micro Miniskirts
These miniskirts resemble corset skirts somewhat, but without the scarf part because of the little flare on them. Paris is being very Parisian these, but, as you might expect, this is actually pretty restricted for her feeling ( perhaps because she’s no wearing a crop major at the same time ).
An enormous top is currently the prevailing trend for sub skirts. Additionally, you’ll notice slightly longer hemlines ( think a tennis skirt versus a full-on micro mini ).
Vests
Vests have been around for a long time, but the secret to achieving this look is to go short, add some embellishment ( sorry, the chains are extra ), and order a size up so you can fit anything underneath.
The System Boot
It’s not like the’ 90s/’00s “discovered” programs, per se, it’s just that they generally made every foot with a large thick foot, from flats to the most lovely holes. This includes Jessica Alba’s *sandals but make them excellent- thick* feeling.
These days, thankfully, our legs get a little bit of a break ( love ya, flatforms ) but be on the lookout for huge, beautiful shoes and ’90s- favorite sturdy boots to be your fresh daily shoes.
Rhinestones
Ah, yes. The sparkly ( and kinda cheap looking? ) Glitter has been styrofoaming all of our clothing. Trust: there are still a few jewels on the floor of your bedroom. Alas, J. Lo is demonstrating how to make it appear somewhat more elevated with a subdued all-over appearance rather than a flashy smiley face.
Nowadays, you do n’t have to look all that far to find rhinestones. If you want to go even more subdued and only use a tee with their traditional glittery logo, Bebe is making a huge ole comeback.
Bucket Hats
All storm Missy, TBH. Although this pea green sitch probably should n’t work, the studded decoration everywhere ( including on a fun bucket hat to make it feel more formal ) absolutely does it.
Bucket hats have been around for a while, but you can make them more stylish by sewing some patches or rhinestones ( sooo ’00s ) on them! or getting a sweet lily type.
Low- Fall Jeans
These. Were. Outside. To the ABC nighttime previews, Eva Longoria wore a pair of these clothes, and her thin green belt made it clear how small they were.
Low-rise clothes were originally meant to show off your biceps ( which I have never had ), but they are now a little more comfortable. Pro tip: Get a pulley to keep these clothes in place.
Pointy Below- the- Hip Shoes
I’m all for a black appearance, and Mariah does n’t seem particularly wild here because she uses various tones and textures. Even though we are well-versed in knee-high boots at this time, the very distinctive heel, pointed toe, and strong calf look dates back to 2003.
A simple slip dress and Matrix-worthy reddish boots are actually a fairly badass going-out look, despite the almost-falling-off bomber.
Trucker Hats
Many celebrities in the early 2000s donned driver hats to make their red carpet appearance more everyday. Good old Gwen here is giving us some fun strength, but please let us never examine the “visible light underwear” seem ever again.
An often romantic clothing is given some structure and balance by the OTT ball cap. You’ll want something not very dissimilar to Gwen’s really, but set it with a gown or large Oxford.
Strappy Boots
A simple strappy sandal has been around forever, but throw on a little embellishment and a square toe and—boom, you’ve modernized it for this decade.
Pageboy Hat
Today, you probably would n’t go with baby pink ( or the wild jean/boot sitch ), but stick to the classic black—like this one at Revolve—and it’s the perfect accent.
Crop Tops
You now have access to virtually any outfit you can think of, including plain crop top tees and racerback strappy versions. Whenever you’d wear a black tee, swap it out with this.
Baby Pink
Head-to-toe tonal is never a bad choice, but anyone but the master would find this level of pink challenging. J. Lo is somehow failing to make a very difficult piece of clothing look twee and slip dress in a light feminine color.
Choose a textural twin set if you do n’t want to go full frills, which will make it feel more sophisticated and less childish. Or choose a knit vest to avoid resembling your skin’s tone and texture too much.
( Faux ) Furry Coats
In the 1990s/2000s, the outerwear had to be just as intense as the rest of your outfit. When she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Britney Spears rocked this faux fur jacket. More really is more!
And yes, fauz fur has been improving, but the secret is to get a completely ridiculous color that looks wild no matter what the weather is. May we suggest this jacket?
An Oversized Belt
You’ll wanna match your belt to the cut of your jeans: I love an oversized belt with my high- waisted denim, as it accentuates my figure. But, since low- rise is coming back (sigh), you can also choose an option with a cool design.
Lots of Satin
In 2024, I’d go for something with straps that cross down the back ( or even better, a backless option!! ).
Baggy Joggers (aka Pirate Pants )
Did we all agree that this cut was flattering? No surprise, Gwen is wearing everything everywhere all at once, but the longer, baggier version of the jogger is an item we’re seeing everywhere.
Maybe skip the pattern, go monochrome, and drop it to floor- length–but keep the bagginess and and pair it with more structured pieces. This Amazon pair is actually the most comfortable item I have ever owned.
Big Sunglasses
We’ll get to tracksuits in just a sec, but the whole ironic sunglasses at night was a fave of ‘ 90s/’00s stars. Honestly, J. Lo could be headed to the gym, a party, a brunch, or all three.
A big chunky pair of sunglasses still popular in the 1990s just feels really substantial in this case. Plus, no matter what you think about sunglasses at night, you ca n’t deny it’s surprising.
Dresses Over Pants
The idea was to wear your jeans a little longer so they covered the majority of your shoe, even dragging on the ground a little behind you. Teen actresses were a big hit with the trend because it made it possible for them to wear mini dresses while still looking obedient.
I would n’t necessarily say jeans under dresses is the way to go, but I’ve been proven wrong before. Instead, I’d say it’s about subdued, flared black pants or leggings that go with whatever you’ve got over it. This is one of those “needs adjustments before you can wear it IRL” trends.
