In my opinion, clothes are a little bit like cheese: you’re either an unrelenting lover, or you’ve been know to shiver at the thought of having to lord one. My idea is that if you lived through the early 2000s you’ll drop in the past station, and if not, the first.
It’s been difficult for young women to withstand the pull of golden clothing, and being a part of our early years in 2003 is largely to blame. Bringing us Andie Anderson’s classic golden gown from How To Gain A Guy In 10 Time, as well as ‘memorable golden in the same year, our versatile, trend- obsessed thoughts didn’t stand a chance. These recognizable styles also come to mind more frequently than I would like to say, more than 20 years after.’

Not only me, but everyone else has a persistent urge for all things sweet yellow. Designers have been using the sweet, pale yellow color for months and have seen it on the Givenchy, Jacquemus, and Bottega Veneta runways throughout the SS24 collections. Whilst the muffled tone was a runway warrior, the colour’s richer, sunshiny girl has also been taking off this season—spotted across choices including Chanel’s Resort ’25 series as well as 3.1 Phillip Lim and Chloé’s SS24 collections.

I’m taking this as my chance to finally live out my fashion dreams with the arrival of the summer season. Performing exactly that, Sabrina Carpenter earlier this month styled an Andie-inspired outfit in diamond necklaces and all.
If you weren’t already a fan, it might prove difficult to win you over, despite the strong love for yellow dresses among those in the know. My years working in the fashion industry have taught me a few styling tips that make the sunshine shade more wearable. I would suggest a clever color combination that can balance out the light yellow color, such as a rich burgundy or chocolate brown pairing. Secondly, I’d experiment with the shade—selecting either a soft, buttery tone or a vivid bright yellow, depending on your complexion and preference.
