Christie Brinkley is ready for her on- air appearance at midnight on Thursday to showcase her new women’s collection, Twrhll ( Towerhill ), which will be distributed exclusively on HSN.
“I’m never really thrilled it’s at midnight,” quipped the 70- yr- old diva, actress and entrepreneur, who serves as the open face and voice of the brand and may appear on live broadcasts and streaming services for HSN.
Starting Thursday, Brinkley will make life appearances from the HSN studios in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she’ll communicate with HSN customers the motivation behind her fresh clothing line.
“Today is thus exciting,” said Brinkley, speaking to WWD at a push- off occasion earlier this month at La Mercerie at 53 Howard Street in New York. “What’s interesting is that so many people are wearing it and that everyone looks fantastic in it.”
Brinkley claimed there are many jersey items in the series that are designed for women who want to travel on an airplane in them and that they don’t crease.
Twrhll is inspired by Brinkley’s passion of architecture, agriculture, the water, and her household, Tower Hill, in the Hamptons. What she likes about the variety the most is that it can be made to your own and become wearable.
Brinkley said she enjoys all the colors and coastal aesthetics in the series, calling her own design “a little bit sailor and a little bit cowboy. The nauticals look French,” she said, pointing to a striped on/off make shirt.
HSN professionals visited her home and spoke with her about the situation. Additionally, they held Zoom sessions where she could observe the looks on designs. She was impressed by how knowledgeable and knowledgeable HSN staff members are about their customers. That understanding was combined with what she enjoys.
As for her method for appearing on HSN, she said, “I’ll attempt to stay out of the guests’ manner. They possess gab, which is special.
Ken Downing, key creative agent at Xcel Brands, which partnered with Brinkley and HSN on the series, told WWD, “Christie is a lot of fun to work with. She has a beautiful, creative passion strong inside her.” He said her household Tower Hill has birds, bees and vegetables and rose gardens. She creates and even collects pebbles. “She’s just a lovely spirit, and she has great personal style. The client will listen to it in a very positive way,” he said.
The entire collection is priced less than $100. Twhill encompasses knit gowns, woven tops, knit tops, cotton, tops, hats, belts and a handbag. Sizes range from XS to 3X, and prices go from the $20s to $30s for belts and hats up to $39 to $90 for apparel.
Bridget Love, public goods director and evil president, merchandising, fashion and beauty at HSN, said at the breakfast, “At HSN we have a strong history rooted in celebrity collaborations, with almost every category of business at HSN housing some of the best celebrity collaborations available on the market today.”
She said the HSN customer not only tunes in to shop, but also tunes in to be entertained. When they do these collaborations, they take into consideration the celebrity’s ability to connect with their customers, their authenticity and whether they can bring that product to life. “When we had the opportunity to work with Christie, it was clear she represented all those things,” said Love.
“It’s been a pleasure for our team to work alongside Christie in bringing this collection to life,” she said, adding that Brinkley’s infectious spirit lives on in every item in the line.
The morning’s event, according to Stacy Bowe, president of HSN, was “an incredible example of what makes HSN an incredible place for our customers and team.”
We’ve been practicing this craft for over 45 years, Bowe said, “Our ability to organically connect those authentic storytellers to exclusive products like we’re wearing today is a skill we’ve been honing.”
Brinkley made lively observations about each of the looks as the models toured the room.
“I love mixing stripes. Stripes are a basic you just have to have in your wardrobe,” or “I love an easy dress. You’ll want to grab this one over and over again. It can be worn belted or paired with flats.”
“I enjoy a good trenchcoat and an anorak, respectively. Why not combine them?” she said about one of the jackets. She also pointed to two favorites, such as a laser- cut denim jacket and sailor pants.
“Since quarantine, we want to be comfortable all the time. We still want to look good, but want to be comfortable,” said Brinkley.
