We all at the Bazaar workplace are contemplating what we’ll use for the upcoming warm summer solstice as we approach the end of the year. (That is, when we’re not in our or.) The best summertime 2024 fashion trends are runway-approved and equally effective for hot city sidewalks.
Every brand from Bottega Veneta to Proenza Schouler displayed handcrafted fishnet bands on the tarmac. Altuzarra and Coperni provided a more smooth appearance with beautiful column clothes in smooth, elegant hues, while brands like Miu Miu and Wales Bonner took a more athletic approach with sport shorts and ringing tees. Or, for a simple hint of complexion, try Carven or Missoni’s large clothes. (Styling tip: When fall comes around, throw on an oversized blazer to look equal parts provocative and tailored.)
Below, I break down 7 of the most powerful summer fashion styles from the 2024 Runway displays, with styles to buy today.
Fishnet & Crochet
I love the idea of lace in the summer —it’s like smart arts, if you will. Manufacturers adapted the open-knit pattern from the fishnet gowns from Proenza Schouler and Bottega Veneta to the woven bags from Gabriela Hearst. designs incredible knit, and each element is handmade in Caribbean handmade communities, making it absolutely one- of- a kind. And let’s not ignore the lattice level, which was all the rage on the runway and above.
Are you having trouble deciding what to wear to work with a knitted best? My favorite layering technique is to layer mine over a pair of dark t-shirts, which makes it feel great and accessible. If your place of work is more proper, simply switch in a more conventional pair of pants.
Capri Pants
This ’90s-inspired image is the best high-water pants; it’s the perfect combination of sleek and minimalist. They were styled in way that felt both coy and seductive on the tarmac. Atlien and Coperni matched them to underwear heads, while Phillip Lim and Coperni went with a leather-caped hoodie best. I even love wearing them with a boatneck Breton ribbon shirt, a headband, east- western rectangular sunglasses, and for a Brigitte- Bardot coded, European- elegant summer look. They are excellent go bottoms that can take you directly from the plane to the water because they are both useful for busy city days and for busy city days.
Thong Sandals
This fashion has literally literally flipped and flopped over the years, but Chanel is back in the lead with a few Spring/Summer 2024 runway looks and velvet thong sandals. These come in a range of fabrics and colors, all of which are simple to walk in, from the jelly thongs at The Row to the colorful leather versions at Tory Burch. Wear them with circle skirts, bucolic ruffled dresses, or almost any pair of —these sandals just feel fun for the summer.
White with a Twist
Ruffled tops, eyelet dresses, layers of lace, and poplin circle skirts were all over the runways. The summer whites of this season are full of personality, but they still provide enough of a blank canvas to make styling fun. From Jonathan Anderson’s stunning white dress in his Loewe show to Jil Sander’s caped and layered angelic look. still make sense in this case. Particularly as summer turns into fall, I especially enjoy the idea of contrasting an ethereal white dress with a down-to-earth outfit.
Column Dresses
The best maxis this season were all column dresses, and dresses for the summer are always a good idea. With a pair of platform summer sandals, try a drop-waist body-elongation and height-enhancing technique. For an additional graphic touch, go for a a to add some spunk. When the temperature drops, I enjoy wearing these as a base for daytime use.
Sporty Style
Whatever the cause, athletic looks have been having a moment, whether it was because designers were considering the upcoming Paris Olympics or because they had all been having fevers. Miu Miu literally doubled down on sporty shorts by layering two pairs of board shorts with a preppy polo on top. Grace Wales Bonner has collaborated with Adidas for a while and has incorporated a sporty element into her collections. She displayed a track jacket and a lot of ringer tees this summer. The runways had sneakers everywhere, and they all look great with a canvas bag for a chic athleisure balance. The best part? You can wear head- to- toe sporty styles, but they look equally look cool as separates.
Sheer Skirts
The adorned skirts and tailored pencils of the fall and winter runways have been replaced with much more paired back and transparent fashion. Easy breezy sheer skirts are all the rage. Everyone from Carven to Givenchy to Missoni tried their hand at the fashion, and they all paired their skirts with a tailored jacket, which is a great way to wear the look in the fall. For the time being, you can wear one over a bathing suit to the beach or add a ribbed tank and some strategic supporting clothing for a night out. I adore using a classic to add some polish to these.
