Fear can frequently lead to the discovery of hidden gems, which Kansas Michalke, a glad father and mother of two, who resides in Austin, Texas, was truly able to do.
Known for her uncanny ability to find sudden treasures during her shopping sprees, the cautious mother’s latest consider led her down a course of history, style, and a touch of political glamor.
A beautiful, sequined night gown caught her attention as she approached the end of her Goodwill shopping spree.
“I did my final lap and I saw the gleam of the dress and I thought,’ Oh my gosh, this will be but fun to play dress up with,’ and I just tossed it in the vehicle”, Kansas told.
Kansas Michalke praised her remarkable skill to uncover hidden pearls at thrift stores.

“I didn’t look at the label. I didn’t look at anything. I was like,’ My girls will appreciate this. I hope it fits,'” she added.
Before getting inside the vehicle, Kansas was unaware of the last-minute contrast to her searching vehicle.
“When I typed in the designer’s name, Jackie Kennedy popped up and I thought,’ No way, this is crazy.’ And then that’s when I did start doing full research on Oleg Cassini, and]discovered just how iconic he was”, the mother said.
The mother paid about $15 on the dress Oleg Cassini, who was chosen by Jackie Kennedy as her main fashion designer, had designed.
Kansas simply split its ways with the antique clothing, which was created by Oleg Cassini, who had connections to Hollywood stars like Grace Kelly, and was apparently Jacqueline Kennedy’s “director of design” by the former first lady herself.
Oleg was cited as her husband’s main fashion designer as well as her husband’s 1961 commencement gown.
“My four- yr- ancient Memphis is obsessed with style, and her specific words were,’ Mom, this is classic,'” Kansas said about the dress.
To her fate, the Oleg- designed clothing fit properly.
Kansas stated that she is creating a list of pointers for those looking to improve their thrift-shop skills.

Kansas also compared her experience to “items that were different,” which allowed her to take home “items that were various.”
“My family was not well off in any capacity”, she said. “My mom was a single mother, and my father was a single father, and we would hold car income,” I said.
“We never really cared about designers or brand names or anything like that”, she continued. We were just “simple little country people who would go straight to the clearance section or thrift stores. I never felt ashamed of it. And I always liked having things that were different”.
Kansas said she is creating a guide full of thrift-saving tips that will be helpful for people hoping to find treasures like the Oleg-designed gown because of her passion for thrifting and her love for unexpected finds.
“I’m convinced that there’s not a bad thrift store”, Kansas said. “I’ve never met one, and I go thrift shopping at second- hand estate sales, at least four times a week.”
