Style abounds among this year’s group of Oscar nominees, many of whom started their red-carpet fashion journey back in early January at the Golden Globes. All eyes were on Lily Gladstone, who received a historic best-actress nomination—the first for a Native American woman—for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon. In the weeks leading up to the Oscars 2024, Gladstone had been a red-carpet standout, opting for looks from a variety of big-name designers including Valentino, Armani Privé, Christian Siriano, Batsheva, and Marni. She also used her time on the red carpet to spotlight Indigenous designers, and in the lead-up to the Oscars 2024, she told People that her look will serve as “ongoing proof that Indigenous design belongs on red carpets with luxury fashion in a very centerpiece kind of way.” Although Emma Stone took home the Oscar for best actress for her role in Poor Things (and suffered a wardrobe malfunction before accepting her award that was later fixed), Gladstone still stunned on the Oscars red carpet in a Gucci gown, made in collaboration with Joe Big Mountain of Ironhouse Quillwork.
Meanwhile, Colman Domingo’s red-carpet style has been as riveting as his performance in Rustin, the biographical drama about American political activist Bayard Rustin that earned him a best-actor nomination. When asked about being considered “the unofficial best-dressed man in Hollywood,” Domingo told Vanity Fair that he “usually thought that people went for the noisier, louder [outfits], wearing bells and whistles and everything.” But Domingo’s style, which he describes as “a bit more understated—masculine cuts, tailoring,” landed him on best-dressed lists all awards season long. On Sunday, he opted for a black, double breasted suit from Louis Vuitton, but relied on a pair of steel-toe cowboy boots, David Yurman jewelry and a watch from Omega to personalize the classic look.
