Every family has a right to pass on her most prized possessions to her daughter, and wedding gowns are just one of them. However, a certain mother had to choose between the two next-of-kin sons to go on to her. The 42-year-old mother, who goes by on Reddit, shared a post asking if she was wrong to grant her 24-year-old bridal dress to her Lucy rather of her daughter Molly. The internet backed her choice and explained why Molly didn’t merit the gown.
When her brother Mark was fresh, the daughter lost her husband. She then made the decision to leave her bridal dress and accessories to Mark’s future spouse. But she reconsidered that choice when she got remarried to her now-husband Rob, Molly’s parents. Molly, in turn, wasn’t ready to accept her stepmother from the beginning and she made it clear that she wasn’t her “real mom”. The explained,” My door was always open for her ( Molly ), but she never changed the way she thought about me. She glared at me with a prize family. If I always threw a charity event, she had quip, ‘Wow, you’re so good with dad’s money.'”
The mother carefully considered giving her bridal dress to Molly despite being called a trophy woman and being berated for never having a college degree. She requested that the daughter wearing her gown and accessories to. “Molly laughed and said the dress was tacky and that I had outdated values.” That really hurt because the mother didn’t care what that dress meant to me, and she knew what it meant. Finally, the daughter stopped trying. I told her the clothing, shoes, and accessories were sister after she fell in love with it. She was so happy she absolutely cried”, she added.
Molly had a haphazard demand from the mother asking if the wedding dress was still on sale. “She asked if I could get it back from Lucy since I offered it to her first, and I told her 1 ) she said she didn’t want it, 2 ) it fits Lucy perfectly, and 3 ) Lucy is the only one getting married within the foreseeable future”, the mom pointed out. It did not sit well with the daughter, who was immediately the clothing. The mother continued,” Now Molly is saying I’m favoring Lucy over her because she’s meeting conventional standards of sexuality ( getting married and being narrow ).” Although Molly’s father supports her decision to give Lucy the bridal gown, the mother is concerned if she would have proceeded the same way if Lucy had requested it and the tasks had been reversed.
