Dresses and documents by the late Princess Diana were among the things that once belonged to members of the royal family, and they sold for more than $4 million at an auction in California.

More than 200 products were included in the price, which auctioneers described as the most extensive selection of Diana’s individual possessions since she held her own charity bid two weeks before her passing in 1997.

A pink silk and cloth off- the- make evening costume designed by British Victor Edelstein, which Diana wore in London and Germany in 1987, topped the sale at $910, 000 (£720, 000)- four- and- a- half times its original lower estimate.

The lady wore the infamous military blue gown when she danced with John Travolta at the White House in 1985, and Edelstein is one of its many creations.

In addition, a Murray Arbeid evening azure strapless gown Princess Diana wore half in 1986, and its forecast for a 1987 Royal Opera House effectiveness of Cinderella also surpassed it.

The gown sold for $780, 000 (£617, 000), almost four times its lower estimate.
