When Hugh Grosvenor’s family, Natalia, wed Gerald Grosvenor in 1978, she wore a ruffled clothing and crown.

On 7 October 1978, the Earl of Grosvenor married Hugh’s mummy at St Mary’s Church in Luton, one month after meeting at a game at Blenheim Palace. Although there are very few photos of the ceremony, a newly discovered snap showed a glimpse of Natalia’s romantic gown.

She was pictured smiling while wearing an ivory clothing with tousled sleeves and large balloon arms dotted with gentle pearls. The edges of her whole border had been flicked away and topped with an ancient diamond and red spinel tiara with a contorted base while the edges of her bob had been blow-dried with a little wave.

It completely matched me and was what I desired. It’s always bothered me that marriage dresses can only be worn again, so it was wonderful to provide a truly stunning dress a second life, she said.
