We don’t often get to witness dazzling royal tiaras, so the decision to reuse her bridal attire for a different royal wedding has piqued our interest.

When Sophie, 39, married Prince Edward in Copenhagen in 2004 for the bride of then-Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Mary Donaldson, she had only been married for five decades. Duchess Sophie wore a warm pink satin wedding guest dress with off-the-shoulder buckles, a fitted neck, and an A-line scarf, while Edward opted for a traditional black suit and donned a military-style suit.

A chocolate red jacket was draped over her arms and she was dripping in pearls, teaming her oval and heart-shaped with a stone collar, dazzling earrings and, most importantly, her marriage crown.

Tucked in her dark blonde jack, Sophie’s crown is thought to have been made out of four anthemion parts from Queen Victoria’s Regal Circlet. Sophie wore a Samantha Shaw coating dress underneath her embroidered V-neck second wedding dress on her wedding day in 1999 with pearls that her husband Edward had given her.

The royal, who has two children with her father, has used every option to discard her beloved headpiece in the years that followed her wedding. For Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden’s great moment in 2010, Sophie wore it with a stately blue velvet dress for the marriage of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway’s ceremony in August 2001.

It appears that Sophie has altered the crown two years after her wedding. The newly designed tiara, which featured changed anthemions that were closer to one another on a larger center, was unveiled by her in February 2019.

Without the assistance of a artist, Sophie has developed her fashionable abilities, which include those of Erdem and Emilia Wickstead. Although she acknowledged that she struggled with the curiosity in her clothing because she was used to keeping her users in the spotlight, this has made her one of the most important style icons in the royal family.

She told: “It was all about my customers, not me. It’s also not about me, it ’s about my organizations but I recognise that I’m on screen.”

You know you’ve got to acknowledge that this is a necessary part of what you’re doing, they said in a conversation I had with them. When you walk into a chamber, yes people are going to talk about what you’re doing it, but they’re even going to want to hear what you’re wearing.

I “kind of fought with that one for a while before I finally a little bit caved in.”
