How did Say Yes to the Dress fare? Why aren’t you covering BB26?

In today’s edition of Ask Andy, I have a tiny bit of information about a show that’s been missing from TV, TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, and an answer to two separate questions about my coverage of CBS’s Big Brother this summer. If you have a question for me,

Where is Say Yes to the Dress season 23?

Hi, Andy. Say Yes To the Dress Season 23 was supposed to premiere on April 6, 2024, on TLC. It did not. Will it ever air (other than on paid streaming services) in 2024? Thanks! —Bee

Good question, Bee! We haven’t seen a new Yes to the Dress episode since April 2023.

That’s quite a while, and the lack of new episodes even has fans of clips from old episodes.

The good news is that there is a SYTTD season 23. When TLC announced it last December, along with other premieres, they described some individual plot lines:

At Kleinfeld Bridal, the world’s premier bridal salon, the experience is part fashion show, part bridal story and part family therapy. This season, Randy and his team navigate the toughest entourages, new extreme demands and even pull off a surprise wedding in the salon! From a non-binary bride looking for two looks in one to a modest bride on the hunt for a perfect gown for her conservative Jewish ceremony and a bald bride ready to prove she is beautiful without a veil, the Kleinfeld team ensures every bride feels perfect on their wedding day.

In other words, season 23 has been filmed, and is just sitting on a shelf waiting to be broadcast. So when will that be?

I asked TLC, and heard from a spokesperson. Alas, there’s no news now of a premiere date, nor anything they could share on the record of when the show might return.

They did say that “hopefully” there would be news of a new premiere date—but again, no idea when that might be.

I’m hoping that show—and all others—aren’t affected by the disaster that is Warner Bros. Discovery. Its latest earnings report was dire, saying that its TV channels like TLC and Food Network are collectively . Oof.

Why aren’t you covering BB26?

Just curious as to why you’re not doing Big Brother recaps for the current U.S.season —Gary

I come on your site for wrap ups for Survivor and Amazing Race (among other things) but Big Brother is not covered anymore. I know you have other writers that now work on the site, so while you may not have time, I thought at least one of them would cover it—since it is such a major show.

I know it’ s on three times a week, so maybe a weekly wrap up? Again, this season so far—WOW, it has all my friends who watch it buzzing more than any other season before it.

Sadly, if they evict Angela, a lot of the explosive drama will die down and it will go back to being just “ok” Thanks for all you do. —Jason

Thanks for the question, Gary and Jason. And thanks, Jason, for coming to reality blurred for recaps of other shows!

While there is a new team , and I do have other contributors, at the moment, I still write all recaps, and right now that’s Below Deck Med and Claim to Fame, with some other shows to come.

The reason: I find those shows interesting and fun to write about! And Big Brother, not so much.

When I have covered Big Brother, I usually do a few recaps at the start of the season and then get bored or annoyed 😆, and then stop about the time when the production drops its theme. This year, I just didn’t start!

Besides my lack of interest, there are others that do cover the show well, such as and . They’re doing it well, and there’s nothing for me to add.

I’m glad it’s been entertaining so far, and hope it stays that way! And I do keep an eye on it, so there’s always a chance I’ll be inspired and cover it in the future.
