Previous adviser and former presidential candidate Nikki Haley has no reservations about ridiculing trend in social circles, and her appearance at Tuesday evening’s Republican National Convention was no exception.
While some critics and citizens criticized her remarks praising the former president in Milwaukee and her decision to back down from her condemnation of him as an ex-presidential rival, people had just one issue: “What is she wearing?”
Haley was not to be missed in a yellow orange Sarah Jon floral ensemble, which was in contrast to the more predictable business attire and simple designs that are more common with key speakers at social norms. Sarah Jon’s leader Rickie Freeman is one Haley’s preferred manufacturers, according to Chaney Denton, a member for Haley.
In 2011, Haley wore one of Freeman’s garments to her first presidential inauguration in South Carolina. “As the youngest governor in America, at the time, and the first female minority governor in the country Nikki wanted to look feminine and strong,” Denton said. (Haley refers to herself as the youngest female minority governor in the country, but she also shares that distinction with New Mexico’s Susana Martinez, who was elected the same year and took the oath of office 11 days before Haley.)
“Since therefore, she’s worn Rickie’s models at function in the UN Security Council and on the political controversy phase”, Denton said.
Denton stated that her target as of last night was to bring the party together and prevent her from appearing as a candidate.
Not just the original ambassador, who was also a key visitor, chose blue over the more conventional Republican red. The 52-year-old Haley collaborated with Freeman on personal projects, including the dressy, off-white dress Rena wore to her daughter Rena’s ceremony in the Kiawah Island Golf Resort next spring.
Haley makes no bones about her fashion sense and responded during a national conversation to her former opposition Vivek Ramaswamy’s comment about her three-inch heels with, “I’d first like to say, they’re five-inch shoes, and I don’t don’ em unless you can manage in’ em”, she said with a smile. “The second thing I did suggest is: I wear shoes. They’re never for a fashion statement, they’re for weapons”.
Based in New York City’s Garment District, Teri Jon is sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and other big stores. Growing up internationally, Freeman spent her after-school period watching her dressmaker father fit and weave people’s matches. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology after moving to New York when she was 17 years old. After earning her certification, she started out in the fashion business in 1974 with two-year periods, at second Evan Picone and therefore Elie Tahari. No long after that, she founded Teri Jon. The writer’s daylight gowns, cocktail dresses, night gowns and bridal gowns cover a large retail price range. A monochromatic metallic jacquard shirtdress in a floral print costs $549, while a taffeta shirtdress with a belt costs 400.
