PINEVILLE, La. A Pineville High School community is upset about the approaching school year’s dress code and questions how the organization made it known to the general public.
A little over a week before the launch of school, the PHS society was informed via email about the future dress code for July 30.
What the home claims is the family’s grievance over the reduction of cargo pants.
” It just seems like they were trying to slip it under the wire, because I do n’t know what their plan was”, said Scott Greenbaum, caregiver for Lilly Ogaard. ” Because let’s say people are n’t on Facebook, and they do n’t look at their website daily, so their kids are going to show up with cargo pants, are they going to get sent home? What will be the bargain,” asks the question.
On August 8, Ogaard will start her junior year at PHS. For the approaching school year, the youth claimed her parents have already purchased her new cargo pants. She claimed that her friends are also affected by the school’s failure to remind families when cargo pants were to be removed.
Because their families have already purchased all of their school uniforms, Ogaard said, “it actually upsets them.” What should they do when they arrive at school?
The girl started an online request to have the college dress code changed. Ogaard said she felt the need to speak up on behalf of her society, particularly the less lucky.
At the time of this writing, the petition has garnered 620 names.
Because I am aware that many people are already having trouble making ends meet, Ogaard said,” I was really disturbed about it.” ” Some of my friends have also said that mine ca n’t afford this, and I know mine ca n’t.”
The Venting Parish School Board stated in a speech to KALB that no alterations to the dress code were made as a result of the class year’s arrangements for the 2024-2025 school year. The statement continues, stating that no cargo pants, no cargo short, or sweatpants have been permitted in the book since 2013.
The RPSB has also made it clear that the 2024-2025 university year has been available on the RPSB since July 25, 2024, precisely two weeks before the start of the forthcoming school year.
But, Greenbaum said the city and PHS have a communication issue.
” If you look on the Venting Parish site, they have listed for each class. Some schools have specifically stated that they ca n’t wear cargo pants or cargo shorts”, said Greenbaum. ” Pineville does not have that title. It simply says orange or yellow. How then should one be informed? Should we adhere to what Pineville High recommends on their website or to what the university table recommends?
The new law restricting PHS students ‘ access to PHS nature tops and hoodies is another problem the family is upset about. She was permitted to wear simple grey, white, or black shoes last year, according to Agaard.
She claimed that some individuals had to wait outside before being allowed into the university at 7 a.m., often for up to 20 minutes. Wearing a PHS sweatshirt may be difficult when it comes to spring, she claimed.
” I know privately, I was very cool during the winter days, and we had to walk over there”, Ogaard said. ” I would say that having my North Face or my other sweaters that I used to wear were much more cozy and chilly than their sweaters and hoodies,” I said.
Greenbaum has a variety of reasons why the PHS nature dress rule irritates her.
Some people dress nicer than others, and you kind of individual kids from them, according to Greenbaum, but you also buy nature shirts as a result. Some people are unable to pay for a number of heart shirts. So they ca n’t wear those to school. So they’re wearing their normal clothes. You’re also separating children based on what they wear, which was against the original standard coverage.
On August 8, Pineville High School students will resume their studies.
