Usually, it’s not difficult to follow the dress script onboard cruise ships. Most of the time, warships are just asked to adhere to “boat casual” requirements when dining ashore.
For example, friends aren’t allowed to just wear their clothing in the meal or main dining areas. Rather, women should cover up their hair, and men should wear a shirt.
That said, comfortable and easy clothing like shorts, T-shirts, clothes, and sundresses are usually all satisfactory.
Ups the stakes on a formal evening by at least one sail per sailing to allow guests to enjoy a traditional meal.
Although tuxedos and longer evening dresses or basketball gowns are generally obsolete, guests are also encouraged to look their best, such as with good button-down tops or more expensive blouses and skirts.
Of course, a good pair of shoes, such as a loafer, style shoe, great foot, or dress sandal you complete the look. But what happens if you’re not able to use regular “formal day” shoes?
After being bashed online for her proper clothing choices due to a medical condition, an anonymous visitor contacted me for guidance.
“My feet are sore that I can’t wear any tennis or dress shoes.” Not at all for a long time. The most recent visitor messaged Heald on Facebook, “I wear flip flops and beautiful sandal-style flip flops at dinner every night in the MDR.”
“I was called ‘garbage’ and worse.’ I don’t understand why people simply can’t handle it or change their ways. My flip-flops don’t make noise unless they are wet, and they also have a cushioned bottom on the inside. I was told to put these on because it was “disgusting” for me to break the law. Support choose John, what is the response”, continued the traveler.
Heald’s encouraging words made the frigate less concerned with what other people might think.
“The answer is wearing them. Who cares, actually, if your trotters are encased in a pair of dazzling sandals or a pair of knee-high rumpy pumpy shoes made of Cleveland leather, because your feet are under the desk, no one can actually see them, and they are?”
The Heald brand ambassador’s followers are mostly in agreement with the comments section, which demonstrated this.
Comfort Comes First – Until Crocs Are Involved
More than 1,700 comments have been posted on Heald’s Facebook page in the less than 24 hours since the foot discussion was shared, the majority of which have been on Heald’s side.
“Additionally, I have a health condition that prevents me from wearing shoes. Because of it, I have a medical handicap. Use the boots. One will always have an opinion. Let them walk (or stroll) a mile in our shoes and they will realize that’s the least of our concerns”, said one empathetic commenter.
“Don what makes you comfortable. This is your vacation”, added another.
“I don’t understand why people need others’ approval. She must enter that steak as if she is already an owner! “!, replied a second.
That said, no all shoes are created equal. While the first ship was frequently praised by commentators, some people were less enthusiastic about daring visitors who donned Crocs Sandals, which created a whole new controversy.
“On your footwear article, there are people who claim to dress in Crocs at proper events.” Crocs, in my opinion, are simply very ugly to use unless you have foot issues that would make it difficult to put on any additional pair of shoes. Only saying, “wrote a man named David, who Heald called out in a secondary blog.”
“Thanks mate, I don’t usually post names of people, but in this case I needed to say, kindly get a pair of Crocs so I can call you …Davy CROCKett… Oh FFS. Hands off. Who has a pair of Crocodiles that they wear on their excursions”?, Heald wrote below David’s information.
The blog, which has over 1, 500 feedback after only about 10 hrs, has earned a combined response. Some ships backed David and expressed their dislike for Crocs.
Previously owned a pair of shoes, and always want to. And I’m with OP. If you have a health problem…ok. But I’m convinced, like many other things…people that are perfectly good may simply say they have a problem”, replied one man.
Another user expressed disappointment that typical crocodiles have returned and said, “I hate the way they look.”
On the other side of the band, some firefighters were big fans of Crocs.
“I very much reside in croc flop. My brother lives in crocodiles. IYKYK. Mind ya company”!, wrote one writer.
Many people, even those who liked Crocs, agreed that they did not belong in the main kitchen area and especially not on a conventional day.
One commenter claimed that while wearing multiple pairs and different types of Crocs, she would n’t wear any of them during MDR.
Lastly, another market deemed that what other passengers wore or were comfortable to wear was not their business.
“I have to admit that what other people are wearing has never been a factor in how enjoyable my boat was. Unless it’s a lack of fragrance, presence of fragrance. That has certainly been an concern on my floor enjoyment”, said one person.
“How about we just don’t judge each other. I and my cruise are unaffected by what other people wear,” one person claimed.
In the end, customers should choose to use the shoes that make them feel great. It’s best to check with the cruise line’s website or consult with the team members ashore before approaching other guests, who may have strong opinions over accurate information, if there are any questions about dress code requirements.
