BATON ROUGE, La. A Baton Rouge person is criticizing Stab’s Prime Steakhouse and Seafood after being barred from a well-known restaurant this week due to what she was wearing.
Y’Mine McClanahan claims that she was given a block of humiliation and a part of contempt when she was kicked out of the steakhouse on Jefferson Highway because she had planned to have a good lunch there.
“I left feeling kind of embarrassed, violated, guilty and actually insulted because I had never had anything occur like this to me as a working professional”, said McClanahan. You feel frustrated, which is fine because I’m acting strangely. What’s the issue with me”?
A picture that was posted on social media has gone viral, revealing that McClanahan was wearing a decorative crop top dress. What transpired when the restaurant’s co-owner confronted McClanahan and threw her out of the restaurant for her clothing is seen in a portion of the video.
McClanahan can be heard saying in the video,” I just wanted to get it on camera why I can’t come in here.”
“It’s just too presenting up around”, the co-owner answered.
The WAFB I-TEAM reviewed the plan which is posted on the hotel’s webpage. The policy especially forbids sport neck, sweating pants, or uncovering clothing. It also calls for business casual attire. It’s worthwhile to point out that the plan also calls for no tank top, but the co-owner seen in the movie who enforces it appears to be violating the legislation herself. According to McClanahan, it sounds like the bowl is calling the kettle dark.
WAFB’s Scottie Hunter asked McClanahan if she believes the policy should be more precise and never left up to a person’s view.
Yes, simply because their policy forbids tank tops, but McClanahan pointed out that she had to leave while wearing a tank top. ” I simply have no thoughts for it.”
McClanahan claims that she was mistook because she has previously performed the same dress without incident in company. She claimed to have taken a photo with WAFB that she claims was taken about two weeks ago of her at the cafe and was dressed the same. She is uncertain as to why this service was turned down.
” It’s just very upsetting that there’s no transparency and there’s no shame for what’s been done to me”, said McClanahan.
The cafe owner reached out to the WAFB I-TEAM, who released the following statement.
We ask our clients to adhere to a dress code that we have in place. We ask our customers to replace baseball hats from our restaurant a few times per month, as well as discuss how they dress. Contrary to what some people believe, our clothing policy has been in place for more than three years. We spoke with a host about her dress yesterday, and she pointed out that our wait staff may not adhere to the requirements of our dress code. We have actually been working on a different uniform for the past few weeks to ensure that we don’t ask our customers for a different standard than our staff members do.
McClanahan can’t help but think about what she believes to be a double standard, despite her understanding of the rules. She also shared a picture that shows the restaurant’s waitstaffs in fishnet stockings and uncovered portions of their stomachs. She claims that if Stab’s owners won’t let her eat there while wearing what she was wearing, how do they permit their employees to work there in a revealing uniform?
” If you’re holding me to a certain regular for your environment that you’re trying to create, then why are you personnel people not held to the same standard because moreover, the nice hostess, her arms were out”, said McClanahan. She then wonders when the owners made the changes, claiming they made the even for their servers, and thinks it was just an excuse after calling them out for being dishonest.
” I find it quite easy because it should have been started right away,” McClanahan said. ” It doesn’t take that long to fix a uniform”.
McClanahan serves on an official position with the NAACP’s local section. The team requested a meeting with Stab’s control in a letter that was released following this.
