She hasn’t always been so conservative with her fashion choices, but she has. Today, elegance and demure are the pillars of the “wardrobe.”
The mother-of-three frequently pushed the boundaries of her wardrobe before getting married to Prince William in 2011: for instance, with her shiny slip dresses for evenings out and her large dresses at St. Andrews University’s runway show.
Her sheer black mini dress from September 2007, just weeks after their three-month breakup, was an outfit we hadn’t seen before. Williams’ then-girlfriend was seen leaving London with a suitcase and a bag, possibly to explore the imperial during his education with the British Army.
Kate wore a small black dress with little puff sleeves, a rectangular neckline, and a fitted waist that led to an Anglais skirt with a broderie. The back of her dress opened up as she left the camera, revealing her gentle bra straps.
She finished her appearance with matching light dancing pumps, layered gold rings that snaked up her elbow, and gentle waves that accentuated her layers.
Kate and William’s broken
In 2001, the partners made a close friendship while attending the University of St. Andrews. Their romance developed while they were cohabiting in their second year, but it wasn’t revealed until 2004, when they were spotted taking a vacation at Klosters Ski Resort in Switzerland.
“When I first met Kate, I knew there was something very particular about her, and then I knew there was something I wanted to explore that,” Kate later admitted during an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby.
The Prince joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMA) in 2005 after graduating from college, progressing from an Officer Cadet to an Officer in the British Army before enlisting in the Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals), where he rose to the rank of lieutenant.
In April 2007, William and Kate called each other, but they reconciled two months later.
“I at the time wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person”, Kate recalled. “I think you can become absorbed in a relationship when you’re younger, and I really valued that time for myself as well.” You discover things about yourself that you hadn’t realized.
William likewise reflected on their time off, musing that it made them stronger. We did split up a little, but it was because we were both very young, in college, and kind of establishing ourselves as such and being unique characters and things.
We were growing up, and it was very little about trying to find our personal way.
Kate showed off her It-girl clothing during their cut, showing off everything from her velvet strappy gown with a lower neckline for a 2007 day out at Mahiki in London to a 2008 charity roller disco party with a green sequin halterneck top and golden shorts.
Since 2011, when she married Prince William at Westminster Abbey, Kate has refined her wardrobe to include strength matches and much area, turning to manufacturers such as Alexander McQueen, Reiss and L. K. Bennett.
