A tiny red house on K-Beach Road, which is the area’s newest women’s clothes store, is located about directly across the street from the Duck Inn. Ang & Jess specializes in selling children’s goods, from clothes and clothing to jewelry and shower works.

Users Jessica Johnson and Angela Henry met while operating another clothing store on the Kenai Peninsula. The pair realized how far they missed engaging with customers after leaving that business.

“Fashion is just so entertaining, because you can show yourself”, said co-owner Jessica Johnson. She is mostly responsible for the company’s style division. “You may mix and match everyone, there’s no’ one size fits all.’ I love it, and I love citizens”.

The shop cabin was rented out by Henry and her father to a nail salon. The developing sat vacant after that business moved to another location, allowing Henry to take advantage of the opportunity to start something of her own. Johnson was enthusiastic about the concept.

The store sells expensive, traditional clothes that they claim may appeal to all ages. Henry claims that the business is far from cluttered despite the smaller place than most homes.

We incorporate a lot of material, and I make sure it’s all right when we’re looking round, Henry said. “We’re trying to make it feel like you’re right on top of someone else,” he said.

Since opening, the duo says they’ve developed relationships with customers that they probably wouldn’t have met outside the boutique. They hope the new retailer offers a chance to purchase modern and fresh clothing as well as a place to connect and interact with other women in the area.

“Faced with the area that you have grown to love, hands down, when you help people realize their charm, or just have the pleasure of sitting and speaking to someone that you haven’t seen,” Johnson said.

“Helping people, seeing people, even if they don’t buy anything, it’s fun to just connect with new people”, Henry said.

A late constructed building that they intend to convert into a commerce with a coffee shop is located to the shop. They plan to sell cooked products, farm-related products and raw foods from plants on the property. They intend to start the merchant in the slide.

Owners of Ang & Jess claim they aren’t necessarily trying to compete with other women’s clothing retailers in the area despite the presence of other women’s clothing retailers. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, they’ll gladly refer you to another local boutique.

Johnson says the satisfaction of helping a consumer find what they’re looking for, either in-store or somewhere, is the best part of the job.

“There is nothing more cheerful than when you help someone get an outfit, and therefore actually, they soft up”, Johnson said. “I can’t even describe how their emotions affect them,” she said. For someone to feel wonderful and recognize it, even though it might be an outfit of a lifetime.

“It’s merely a self-esteem boost to know that you’re helping people feel great about themselves”, Henry added. “That’s kind of what we wanted to accomplish, just have fun. No tension, no force.”

Ang & Jess is on Andrews Avenue, merely off K-Beach Road. They’re available Sundays from noon to 5 p. m. or by session.
