Laura Harrier is an expert at function attire. Scouted at the age of 17, she spent a number of years as a concept before turning her hands to acting, and finding foreign admiration through starring roles in movies, including Spider-Man: Homecoming and BlacKkKlansman. Given her excellent style, it may not surprise you that she was chosen to serve as the face of numerous fashion promotions for the likes of Calvin Klein, Boss, and Louis Vuitton. That’s a whole lot of reddish carpets, special events and hit tours – even for the most senior of It-girls.
So perhaps it’s only normal that Harrier has collaborated with Reformation, a fashion blogger, to create a summer capsule that is inspired by her attire this year. Drawing on her many years of dressing for the light, the 18-piece series is full of the type of items you could easily see the A-lister stepping out in: from night cocktail dresses and lovely co-ords, to wear-with-anything mules and mix-and-match separates.
According to Harrier, “I drew inspiration from items that I loved in my own bedroom.” I have a ton of vintage, so the majority of these are influenced by my like of acquiring; my favorite era, 1990s fashion, was greatly influenced by it, but I also wanted everything to feel contemporary and fresh.
However, the collection’s modern slip skirts and roomy shirting allude to the ultimate “90s It-girl,” with this elevated theme permeating it. The artist describes her approach to summer attire as “super simple,” and Harrier’s personal style clearly reflects that period. I typically live out of a backpack during the summer months, but I try to keep all very organized. A long trousers like the Lakisha, a fine tank top, big Danielle jeans, button-downs like the Collins, and pass garments are my go-tos. When I want to be more elegant, I simply put on some Elsa Peretti jewelry and call it a day.
Her favorite item from the series? The A-line kilt. I’ve been searching for the ideal skirt for ages, but I was unable to get it, so I had to make my own! I wear it with everything, from large button-downs to shoes and socks to a speech necklace and feet.
