After a person showed how she changes her dress selection based on who she is dressing for, a viral video shared to have sparked discussions.

Richelle Zhang showed viewers two distinct gowns, which, while both magnificent, gave off entirely different feelings. One was said to be aimed at the adult stare, while the other was styled as the female gaze, according to the poster.

While, to the untrained eye, both appears may just be a child in a costume, the breaks, shapes, colors and patterns all charm differently to different genders. The viewer descended onto the feedback section of the picture, which she shared to her Instagram handle @richelle_zh next year, to share their thoughts on her two contrasting appearance.

The second clothing, tailored toward the male eye, features a plunging neck, figure-hugging suit and uses a bright red color, symbolizing passion and love, as well as danger and anger.

With limited and restricting materials being eliminated in favor of a soft, open neck and full and flowing skirt, her second option was chosen for its attractiveness under the feminine eye. It’s not just the style that is softer, but also the colours, with calming white and blue used on in the fabric’s female flowering display.

According to NIFT designer Marion Perles, “Dressing for a gaze means choosing your clothing with major consideration of how it will be perceived from a male or female view.” In other words, do you dress to impress a man or a woman?

“There is a common stereotype that, to please the male gaze, one must wear more revealing clothes, while women might appreciate trendy, sometimes oversized outfits. It is believed that a woman who dresses to be sexy tends to concentrate on what she wears rather than what she wears.”

While changing your outfit depends on the gaze you’re hoping to catch is a common one, people believe it’s overused.

Perles once said, “The main objective of styling an outfit should be to dress for yourself. Everyone is unique, but receiving compliments from both men and women is always nice. You should never feel compelled to dress to please a particular gaze, and you can feel sexy in baggy pants.”

What Say the Comments?

There was a clear gap between the preferences of the various genders, but some people went against the grain when it came to their preferred style.

I thought, “That dress looks so good on her,” at first. But when I saw the 2nd one….. “I screamed internally, because, yes you look fantastic and yes I want that dress,” wrote one woman.

“Am I the only woman who favors the first dress?” asked a second.

One woman who preferred the first option posted: “Oh nah I’m no better then a man then.”
