Reddit has a dedicated website where users can share their amazing finds, just like the internet is filled with amazing thrift stories. One customer recently shared a rare find on the platform: a strawberry dress by Lirika Matoshi, a popular style designer. The customer described how she obtained a piece of clothing for less than the original amount from one of the most well-known lines.

The Redditor referred to her discovery as the “bright whale,” a Moby Dick adage used to mark the most pricey items. The person mentioned that she had always dreamed of owning the famous gown and that she discovered it about a year ago. She continued, noting that she could not have possibly manage the original value, so she was happy to find it at a used book store for $60.

“I’m still but, so delighted with it”, the user wrote.

She even included a number of images of the stunning gown. On Lirika Matoshi’s official website, the costume usually sells for $490. The dress’s description on the website reads, “The great head turner dress featuring a usb dress silhouette covered in sparkly strawberries.”

Since it first became popular in 2020, the strawberry clothing has gained a notoriety. According to a statement from a fashion magazine, it catapulted the 24-year-old fashion designer to fame and almost 1000% to her income. When plus-size unit, Tess Holiday wore it to the 62nd Grammys, it also sparked discussion at the occasion.

After the success of the gown, Matoshi went on to release an entire berry basket of clothes, especially, strawberries, lemons, mangoes, melons, and more. The wonderful Redditor’s discovery enabled her to own an classic piece of clothing, saving her hundreds of dollars in the process.

Many people in the feedback section were amused by the Redditor’s get. “That’s so pretty and looks great on you. Nice find. The cost compared to the original made it even better,” wrote person.

However, many people shared their personal stories to highlight the beauty of thrifting. One of the benefits of thrifting is that you can see what you want and wait for someone to contribute what you want. I saw a great handbag at Harrod’s while on vacation in London, so I grabbed it as a present. Until I saw the price tag- in the hundreds. Another person commented, “It just took a few years to see one at a consignment store in my little town- even for $65.”

Aside from allowing people to find their bright whales, donating used items, particularly clothes has a lot of advantages.
