While toddlers are extremely challenging, parenting physiological teenagers, particularly step- siblings, may become equally, if not more, demanding. A Reddit user recently described how Bethany, her 16-year-old girl, and Maria, her step-sister, her 14-year-old daughter, were “overall great” in their relationship. That is until the dramas of the adolescent craze start.
Despite being in each other’s life for around nine centuries, the sisters seemed to have developed a gap, mainly due to Bethany’s resentment. Maria’s parents began making plans for her festival and purchasing a$ 3, 000 gown, which added to the stress. The beautiful quinceanera party and its rituals, which were tied to Maria’s Mexican heritage, made Bethany envious. The mother wrote, I’ve informed her that it is a part of culture, just like when she had a massive sweet sixteen party with her companions.” I spent more time with her and purchased her a much less expensive outfit for the celebration.
No matter what her mother said or did, Bethany was unsatisfied with her step-sister’s life’s step and actually ended up ruining the Quinceanera dress out of frustration. She scribbled the entire priceless clothing in pencil and ripped the rear, according to Bethany’s mother. Long story short somebody was pissed”. As the day of the great event approached, what started as a teenager’s meltdown caused the entire family to feel afflicted.
Bethany’s mother offered money to her father and his ex-wife to help them with the outfit problem. But her own daughter’s outburst needed immediate fixing, so she decided to punish her by making her pay back the $3, 000. My daughter was told that as punishment, she would need to find work and pay back the entire amount of the dress. But, Bethany did not take her sister’s punishment quietly. They both got into a heated discussion where Bethany accused her of choosing Maria over Maria. The Reddit users questioned the group’s mind, blaming “we got into a big discussion over it and how it’s unfair that I’m choosing Maria and being a great jerk.” Am I being a great jerk”? She was curious to know if requiring her child to pay back the whole amount would be considered too severe a sentence.
The mother was commended by the Reddit community for making a good and simple choice. One person,, wrote “NTA. Your 16- yr- ancient destroyed someone else’s house. It is her responsibility to make compensation”. Another customer pointed out “You’re a great parent. You’re honest and letting her mouth deserved effects. NTA. Thousands of youth function after school, on weekends, breaks or even all along. She’ll live it.” A few people gave advice on how to ease the situation. One consumer wrote, “I would suggest you let your child to study these at some point. Write out the answer, finally, she may feel remorse, I think it will be a tough position to control but it could also up you up if/ when she throws another anger. It’s no ‘you being severe’ she may hear this”.
