Classic royal engagement gowns: Meghan Markle’s £52k dress, Princess Diana’s ‘Pretty Woman’ moment & more

When a member of the royal family, all eyes move to their band.

The and more’s debut rocks were very peculiar, but they also displayed their distinctive sense of style in their first pictures with their fiancee.

Take a look at the show-stopping outfits royal ladies wore on one of the most significant days of their lives, from the strong mini dress to the candy green tartan skirt and the sheer second dress.

Princess Diana

Therefore, in February 1981, Prince Charles made his first look with his fiance Princess Diana. Matching with her ruby ring from Garrad, which she chose to meet her eye, Diana’s dazzling blue Cojana costume was a Harrods order.

Diana Spencer was immediately photographed in Bellville Sassoon for her wedding dress, according to Claudia Joseph, the author of Diana: A Career in Dresses, but she was turned down in what was perceived as a Pretty Woman instant.

Her mother was familiar with Bellville designer David Sassoon, so she went in alone one Friday evening when the shop assistant didn’t recognize her.

“Diana didn’t know what she wanted. And I think the assistant became a bit impatient with her and basically said, ‘Why don’t you go to Harrods dear, you’ll find what you’re looking for there,'” she said on the Royally Us podcast.

Her Cojana coat, which was reportedly priced at around £309, featured a usb trousers, a spear belt, and a bird-printed pussybow sweater, and flat black pumps.

Princess of Wales

Following William’s plan in Kenya, the Prince and Princess of Wales were all over the place as they took their relationship photocall at St. James’ Palace in November 2010.

Kate matched her military Issa clothing with long arms, a knee-length skirt, and a fitted wrapped neck by a book by her late mother-in-law.

Although the initial dress was thought to have cost £430, many more reasonably priced variations have been made available since then thanks to the “Kate effect.”

Duchess of Sussex

In November 2017, the first engagement pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were taken in Princess Diana’s memorial yard.

Meghan first donned a white jacket gown from Line the Label, which she layered over a green sheath dress from P. A. R. O. H. She after exchanged her fitted frock for a £56, 000 couture gown from Ralph & Russo, which had a large bodice with gold embroidery and a tulle skirt.

For her engagement photocall in March 1986, fiancée chose chic tailoring. The Duchess of York paired her Burmese ruby engagement ring with a purple dress that was concealed beneath her black jacket, complete with 80s-style shoulder pads, and a purple dress.

Princess Eugenie

was a vision wearing an Erdem dress with floral print, thought to be worth £1, 288, and Jimmy Choo heels as she revealed her engagement to Jack Brooksbank in 2018. Eugenie made her pink sapphire cluster ring pop with the red and orange florals on her mini dress, which had a high neck and a frilled hem while taking photos in Buckingham Palace’s Picture Gallery.

Princess Beatrice

In the same way as her younger sister, she chose vibrant florals to announce her engagement to in 2019.

Photos show the couple cuddling with the bride-to-be while wearing a £595 green Zimmerman dress with puff sleeves and a high neckline from Australian brand Zimmerman. The sparkling diamond ring from Shaun Leane on her left hand was enhanced by Beatrice’s frock’s harmonious relationship with the greenery in the background of the sunny photos.

Princess Anne

and her first husband’s May 1973 engagement ceremony. On the grounds of Buckingham Palace, the Princess Royal presented her sapphire and diamond engagement ring along with a pair of diamonds.

A matching tartan neck-tie, a black handbag, and patent leather court shoes go with her fitted blazer.

Duchess of Edinburgh

Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones, who are now the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, made the announcement during a press conference at St James’s Palace on January 6, 1999.

Sophie wore a grey Tomasz Starzewski suit while keeping all eyes on her trilogy ring from Garrard.
