Alexandra Burke celebrates Sister Act: The Musical’s with partner

The singer stated on the Dirty Mother Pukka podcast that “There were times when I was about to go on stage, and I can’t recall the location I was in, and my first born was crying and they’re like “curtain needs go up” and I was like “I need to feed the baby.” I said “Hold the show”.

The stress I felt to find my a**e on that point. I said “You may ( as ) well just let me feed the baby because I’m crying on stage”, and you couldn’t open the show because I was standing there crying.

‘And as much as all was like “the child will be fine, it will be fine.” But I’m their dad and I felt for grief, and I nevertheless hold that grief.’

‘It’s not like yet the girl remembers, but I didn’t forget that.’

Alexandra stated that it was a significant learning curve for her and that she will “never allow myself to walk away from my child always again.”

I also have to say that while I felt that stress, and that time still sticks with me, I did of training sign up to watch that display, and the screen does get up at 7:30pm every day, and I’m aware of that.

‘I don’t blame anyone for that situation because there are thousands of people in the audience waiting for the show to begin. At the same time it still makes me feel emotional.’

Following the passing of her mother Melissa in 2017, Alexandra described motherhood as “tough” and said she doesn’t have a large family around her.

She remarked, “Having a team that understands that I bring the babies to work is one of the biggest blessings in my life,” and that it wouldn’t be without my best friend, who works with me.

“If it weren’t for the understanding of the people around me, I couldn’t go on tour and do what I did.”
