After the security guard prevented her from unfurling a long station with the image of Jesus on it in front of photography, the sun 39 suggested that the person “should go to church” or “read the Bible”
Taveras stated on Tuesday that she believes the woman was trying to stop her from attending the festival, which was held last month.
The actress stated that all she wanted to do was share the dress’s message and give credit to her dress designer.
Massiel claims that the security guard “grabbed” her and tried to “push” her when she did, along with South Korean singer Yoona and model Sawa Pontyjska.
Massiel says the way she was treated wasn’t right’, adding that while it was happening she thought to herself, ‘leave me alone.’
A male security guard informed Massiel after she climbed the infamous Cannes staircase that she couldn’t enter the building.
‘I said “Why? This is Jesus Christ’s fac,” the actress stated, adding, ‘I have an invitation for one year in advance.’
‘They didn’t let me in the main room. They said “no, if you want to go in, go to the balcony.” I’m like okay, fine.’
‘It really felt weird. I’ve never had that situation before. And I believe that because of how far I can go in life, people will enjoy doing that. And, as Kelly did, I stood my ground. We did the same.’
Taveras then asserted that the security guard was not interested in seeing Christ’s face.
‘If you see the video, she’s like covering her face,’ she said of the security guard, before adding, ‘She should go to church or read the Bible.’
Before the incident escalated, the actress shoved the female security guard as she entered the event, where Taveras defied instructions and threw the train of her dress down the stairs.
The actress appeared to be planning to take her massive train down the stairs in the video of the confrontation, but the female security guard quickly stopped her as she waited for her.
She grew enraged as the security guard kept her arm out in front of her posing as other staff members helped lay out the dress while Taveras waved to fans.
Before Taveras took the end of the dress from another guard and threw it to the floor in disgrace, the two exchanged a few words as staff pulled the train up the stairs and began to speak.
Although it is unclear why the female security guard sat next to Taveras as she led her up the stairs, the woman kept her arm in her lap.
Taveras, who had previously won the title of Miss Dominican Republic and competed at Miss Universe, struggled to unfurl the train on her dress when she reached the top of the stairs.
When she attempted to step in, she berated the security guard and threw her arms in disbelief.
Taveras waved to her fans after the dress was finally untangled, but the female security guard appeared to slam the actress against the entrance.
Taveras reacted incendiously to that action by shoveling the security guard away from her before sticking up her finger and yelling at her.
Three days after the staffer also raised eyebrows with her rowdy relationship with Rowland, it is unclear why Taveras was confronted by the security guard.
The singer criticized racism as the cause of her treatment on the red carpet and expressed shock at how she was treated there.
She made the suggestion that “there were other women who attended that carpet, who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded, pushed off, or told to get off.”
However, the security guard’s colleagues told Daily Mail.com that she was “only doing her job” and was acting appropriately.
A festival veteran who has worked in the resort for 20 years said, “She was an usher working under a lot of pressure to keep people on the carpet moving.”
‘There was no pushing or shoving, or scolding,’ he said. ‘Along with adhering to strict timetables set forth in contracts, safety and security are top priorities, and even famous people must adhere to the rules.’
The usher has not been made known to the public, but she is known to be a local Frenchwoman working the week-long Festival on a short-term contract.
The source added: ‘Suggestions of racism are just ridiculous – visitors, and indeed staff at Cannes come from all kinds of backgrounds, and none are discriminated against.’
Fans of the stars demanded the guard be fired from her position following the staffer’s viral run-in with Rowland, Massiel, and K-pop star Yoona because they said she was “disrespecting women.”
One X user wrote, “She turned herself into the world’s most hated security guard,” while others expressed their outrage over how the minder was reportedly only “aggressive with women of color.”
Another wrote: ‘This lady is a STRAIGHT up HATER… first Kelly Rowland and NOW Massiel Taveras…….. she needs to be TERMINATED. ‘
‘Putting yourself in someone’s personal space is not doing your job,’ a third wrote. ‘It seems like a coincidence that the same security guard is addressing the same problem. The job does not require them to become the news unless they are doing on purpose…# 15Secondsoffame.’
Why, seriously, does @Festival_Cannes permit their crazy security guards to harass and tackle guests in this manner? a fourth asked. ‘People should simply abstain from watching this spectacle until they are taught to respect it. This security guard has harmed guests for years.’
The guard was “hurting everyone on the red carpet,” according to some, whether or not she was aware.
A small handful of X users, however, expressed sympathy for the woman, who they said was just ‘enforcing the rules of the event.’
‘This Cannes film festival security guard needs a pay raise asap,’ one X user suggested.
The growing backlash online comes after the same Cannes security guard, that clashed with Rowland, purposefully blocked Yoona’s red carpet photos.
The K-pop star turned actress, 33, was preparing to pose for photos on the iconic red stairs when the security guard stopped her.
The incident occurred just days after the same guard was allegedly racially abused by Rowland on the red carpet, despite the staffer’s colleagues insisting that she was “only doing her job.”
Elsewhere, a Ukranian model was kicked out by the same guard, but was seen fighting with the worker to get back on the stairs.
