When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, 39, quickly visited Nigeria earlier this month, the couple looked quickly beautiful in a range of neutral and bright colored ensembles.

But, Nigeria’s First Lady may not have been very enamored with the Duchess of Sussex’s clothing, as she gave an target referencing American star women’s clothes not long after they visited. Fluke?

Nigeria’s First Lady Says ‘We Don’t Take Nakedness In Our Culture’

Senator Oluremi Tinubu tried to deter teenagers and young people from being inspired by the risqué clothes of Hollywood celebrities in a strong statement to indicate the first celebration of her father President Bola Tinubu’s management earlier this month. The timing of the address does seem to suggest that there is some sort of connection, even though she didn’t name the former Suits actress by name.

“We have to recover our children,” Tinubu officially said, according to the “We see the way they dress. The Met Gala is certainly taking place. And anyone, the nakedness, is really everywhere and the males are well- clothed.”

“Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture,” she continued, which could have been partly brought on by the, adding: “That is not beautiful. It’s no gorgeous at all.”

Tinubu went on to share some encouraging words for Nigerian people, saying: “They’re all lovely women, but they should be confident in who they are. We are trendy, we see what is going on.” She added: “When mother stand with you, the property is in order. In order to increase the happiness of our country, we must strive to become the cohesive force in our communities and homes.”

Some Of Meghan Markle’s Nigeria Wardrobe Was Criticized

The mother-of-two recently received criticism for some of her wardrobe choices while traveling to Nigeria, where the country is primarily Muslim and requires more humility. A halter-neck was one of the risqué dresses in question, which, admittedly, wouldn’t have been a choice if Prince Harry and Meghan had still been active members of the royal family. ( Her back can be seen a little bit better in some more photos of Meghan in the dress, which also has a better view. )

Fashion expert Susie Nelson told The Mirror earlier this month, “She didn’t have to think about royal rules and protocol regarding her clothes because this was a private visit,” adding that Meghan is no longer a working royal. A royal standard would have taken notice of Nigerian go blog ideas that modesty in clothes is preferred, adding that “the color red Heidi Merrick costume would not have been seen on an official royal tour having an open back.” I think the majority of Nigerians are Muslims.

Meghan Markle Received Praise For Wearing Bright Colors and Supporting Nigerian Designers

However, not everyone was offended; she was praised for embracing Nigerian designers and sporting bold outfits, like the yellow Carolina Herrera dress pictured above. According to Nelsons, “The wearing of bright colors was a good idea, Nigerian clothes are colorful and Meghan wanted to be noticed,” and that the “ethically” created dress was one of Orire’s designs. She added: “The red dress was by a Nigerian brand Orire, a thoughtful choice.”

And Nelson doesn’t believe that the *did* show too much skin, though she might have covered it up with a scarf in some places. People have been questioning whether Meghan bared too much skin while attending multiple events or if she violated any of the formal dress rules that the royal family must adhere to, Nelson said.

“I thought Meghan’s style for this trip was timeless, effortless and chic – and she usually doesn’t disappoint,” Nelson added. One thing to keep in mind is that she was very much outfitted for the high 30s ( Celsius ) and extremely humid conditions in Nigeria. I thought she was respectful and elegant, but perhaps she could have added a scarf for a little more coverage.
