Calemexico Mayor Raul Ureña, 26, identifies as a trans girl and prefers she/they nouns.
Ureña, the initial transgender president along the whole US/ borders, told Daily Mail.com that she recalls feeling ‘but good’ while wearing a gown at the age of 10.
But, Ureña has claimed that her personality has been used against her throughout the elected official’s political career.
The mayor claims that being a transgender person often makes her feel less vulnerable to trans-hate as a public official.
I might even be more vulnerable if I don’t hold the office where many people who don’t identify as do, she said.
Before being elected as a trans woman in 2020 at the age of 23, Urea was elected.
After that, she started wearing makeup and dresses for recognized appearances, which riled up some voters who thought they were being cast as queer cisgender men rather than transgender women.
Urea acknowledged that her relatives told her to conceal her intimate arrangement when she came out at the age of 17 for safety reasons and acknowledged that she struggled as a member of the LGBTQ+ area.
She said, “My parents wanted me to keep it to myself because they were concerned about my health.” My father was not very pleased that I revealed my sexual orientation in people.
At a Pride- flag raising celebration at Calexico’s town house in June, 2023, Ureña was lunged at by an against- trans activist who had set out on a mission to find her kicked out of office.
A steaming person, Rebecca Lemon, marched toward her and screamed at the governor as Urea stood in a gown next to the Progress Pride Flag as it was being hoisted up the pole.
A fleet of police quickly yanked the activist from the president onto the lawn where she squirmed and kicked while Urea stood quietly.
‘He’s hardly a child, he’s a child,’ Lemon screamed at Ureña’s dad- who stood near videoing her mad outburst.
‘ e’s certainly a person! He’s no a lady!’ She shouted over and over again before screaming’ F*** you’ at a police commander and kicking Ureña’s parents.
She had physically served the recall papers to Lemon, who has long been the experience of a campaign attempting to remove Urea from office.
The transgender people national split the papers in third.
The different members of the recall campaign have continued to work on their efforts to remove Urea from office despite them distance themselves from Lemon after her explosion.
‘I think she’s a great bully,’ Ureña told Daily Mail.com.’ She barks like a dog and is bigger than me, but I’m not frightened.’
Referring to the incident in June, Ureña said,’ I can absolutely say what she was doing was illegal, was unlawful, was a fault and was something you don’t do to a human being.
‘I ca n’t be afraid of those kinds of incidents. I have a whole town to manage, and it’s especially challenging at home.
Calexico, a city in southern Imperial County, is located near California and Mexico.
The state’s population of approximately 38, 000 is largely made up of largely Democrat electors- but from the 2016 to the 2020 election, Democratic electors increased from under 10 percent to about 27 percent.
During this remember, we want to tell all to be respectful of one’s physical preferences because this is not the program, according to those who are pushing for the removal of Ureya from office.
However, the actions of their former campaign leader suggest otherwise.
After Lemon’s attack, former mayor Maritz Hurtado became the new public face for the campaign.
Residents of Calexico took to social media to criticize the politician for her appearance when Urea became mayor.
People began to complain about how disgusting and that this must be a joke when images of Urea wearing a dress surfaced.
Calexico resident Diana Silva reported that she was unconcerned with the way Urea is portraying herself, but that she also was unhappy with her position on the city council.
