The little boutique in downtown Port Huron is celebrating its fifth anniversary year with a special inventory reduction sale featuring a selection of dresses for $5. The one-day sale will be held from noon to 8 p.m. April 5.

“We have such a spectacular dress collection for all women, all sizes, all colors of dresses and we need to reduce our inventory,” Karen Palka, founder and executive director of A Beautiful Me said, in a news release.

Besides getting a great deal for themselves, customers who purchase a dress will be helping to support a charitable organization that develops and trains girls in 3rd-12th grades throughout Southeast Michigan through original confidence-building workshops and programs.

Since its founding in 2008, A Beautiful Me has reached over 11,000 girls, with its mission of empowering girls with positive self-esteem for the benefit of their overall well-being. Many of whom are now positively affecting the world around them.

“As a nonprofit, people learn about A Beautiful Me’s purpose, knowing that every purchase of every dress supports the mission to build girls’ confidence with original programs,” Palka said.

The charity opened The Closet by A Beautiful Me in January 2019. It not only provides funding for the nonprofit but serves as an original business certification training program for teen girls.

The dresses are already affordable at The Closet by A Beautiful Me but for one day only shoppers will save more than 90% on dresses that could cost anywhere from $100 and up.

“After one of our strategic planning sessions we decided to celebrate with a BIG sale and pass along the savings to our community. At this price, customers may not want to try on the dresses – simply buy and go,” Kalka said. “Whether you are in the market to purchase a dress, or not, this event is a must attend to be prepared for that future event and support youth development.”

The dress shop is also planning to be open Good Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. for those who are looking for Easter dresses.
